According to local media reports, for the first time a Volvo SUV will be manufactured in China, specifically in the new Geely-funded factory situated in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. This particular car is the Volvo XC60 SUV and it seems that production will start in 2014.
At the moment this Volvo vehicle is being imported at a starting price of 390.000 yuan but the locally assembled XC60 will be launched on the Chinese automobile market at the end of next year. The XC60 won’t be the only SUV available for the folks there as Geely and Volvo plan to add the upcoming Volvo XC40 on their Chinese production list.

Concerning the XC60’s power, the vehicle will offer a 2.0 turbo T5 four-cylinder with 240hp and a 3.0 turbo T6 six-cylinder with 305hp. As the price is concerned, it will be 25% cheaper than when it was imported and will join the recently launched Volvo S60L on the China car market.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
