New design and dynamism has been added to the cluster of Volvo 60 models, and today the Swedish automaker has detailed the XC60 for the 2014 model year.
Looking more chic than ever, this SUV gains a host of cosmetic touches, new colors and fresh 20-inch wheels. Inside, the 2014 XC60 offers new wood inlays, a new headliner, textile B-pillars and the silk metal frames for the air vents.
But perhaps the biggest improvement and the real reason you should consider buying XC60 now is the revised engine family. Starting with the most powerful, the XC60 T7 model now offers a 2-liter engine which combines a compressor and a turbo charger to deliver 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Despite these impressive numbers, you can expect fuel consumption of as little as 7.3 l/100 km (169 g/km).
There's also the T5 and D5 engines which are also new and, but have been available on other models. But the most efficient new XC60 is the D4, a brand new turbodiesel engine belonging to the Drive-E family that delivers 181 PS and 400 Nm of torque. By featuring pressure feedback from each fuel injector instead of using a traditional single pressure sensor in the common rail, Volvo has managed to cut fuel consumption to 4.5 l/100 km, translating into CO2 emissions at 117 g/km, which is the best in the range.
