2014 Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid for German Police

You'd think that speed and acceleration are the most important traits a police car need to have, and that fuel economy is not a criteria. After all, who cares about CO2 emissions when people's lives are at stake. Well, the German police, otherwise known as the Bundes Polizei, care.

They care so much that they decided to take a couple of plug-in hybrid from Volvo and test them out recently. These two cars represent the most technologically advanced cars that the Swedish carmaker had on offer, with emissions as low as 49 grams per kilometer.

There rear axle is powered by an electric motor producing 68 hp and 200 Nm, while the front has a classic D6 diesel with 215 hp. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The V60 Plug-in Hybrid can be recharged from a regular power outlet (230V/6A, 10A or 16A fuse) at home or in a parking lot. Recharging time varies with amperage. A full charge with 10A takes 4.5 hours. This is cut to 3.5 hours with 16A, while a 6A charge takes 7.5 hours.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
