Volvo recently announced it is recalling a number of 2014 models due to an electronic issue that can cause many of the vehicles’ systems to fail.
The problem has determined the automotive producer to recall almost 8,000 units of the 2014 model year S60, S80, XC60 and XC70. The source of the issue is the keyless ignition system on the vehicles, with Volvo explaining that the central electronic module is the faulty part.
The most common manifestation of the problem sees the windscreen wipers running non-stop, as long as the ignition is on. However, there are also other, more severe issues. These include the high and low beams, turn signals, as well as the cruise control, while the battery may drain.
Volvo is currently notifying owners of the affected vehicles via mail.
