Volkswagen has announced plans to introduce a special edition of the Touareg SUV in the United States for the 2014 model year. Dubbed Touareg X, the special edition model will be built in only 1,000 units tp celelbrate 10 years since the German SUV became available across the Pond.
Based on the TDI Clean Diesel Lux trim, the Touareg X will feature a number of unique exterior features, including 19-inch “Moab” aluminum-alloy wheels, Moonlight Blue Pearl exterior paint, LED taillights, and specific badging. Inside, exclusive equipment will include Vienna leather seating surfaces in Black Anthracite, “Engineered Ebony Wood” accents for the dashboard and the doors, aluminum door sill scuffplates and aluminum-look appearance.
According to VW, the Touareg X will be packed with standard equipment, including keyless access, Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, navigation with eight-inch color touchscreen, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a panoramic powered sunroof.
As will all TDI Lux models, power will be provided by the familiar turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 TDI Clean Diesel engine that’s rated at 240 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The 2014 Volkswagen Touareg X is priced from $56,170, not including delivery, taxes and dealer charges.
