VW fans will remember the previous generation Polo was called the shrunken Golf. It was so round, so bubbly that people just didn't take it seriously. But then the current generation came out in 2009 and changed people's perceptions. It was longer, lower and had its own styling, both inside and out.
Strangely, Volkswagen is actually going back to the Golf-drawing board with the 2014 Polo facelift. A full set of photos was announced today, but the German company did not go too much into detail about the changes made to the interior, which is why we're going to look into the matter ourselves.

The first thing noticeable about the 2014 Polo is that it has basically the same steering wheel as the Golf 7. This has piano black spokes instead of simple plastic or metallic finish ones on the old Polo. Also stolen from the Golf 7 is the new infotainment system, the MIB. This has better menus and sensibility. The headlight switch is also new and has an auto function.

Between the speedo and the rev counter, there a small display, probably an LCD that replaces the simple display with basic information currently available on the car.

The Polo facelift also benefits from a number of tech upgrades. All cars will have standard Automatic Post-Collision Braking System which automatically brakes the vehicle after a collision to reduce kinetic energy significantly and thus minimised the chance or consequences of a second impact.  Options include a Driver Alert System and Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Automatic Cruise Control. Also new is the Sport Select suspension system we revealed in our spyshots last week. This comes with two damper settings, a rarity in the supermini class where cost cuttings are more important than features.
