2014 Volkswagen Polo Available for Order in Britain, Deliveries Start in July

At the Geneva Motor Show this year, Volkswagen revealed revised family of Polo superminis for the European market. More of a tech upgrade than a facelift, the 2014 Polo looks almost the same as it did before, but the new engines it brings could make it a very competitive product, especially in Britain, where superminis are by far the biggest segment.

Starting today, the 2014 Polo is available for order in British Volkswagen dealerships, though deliveries will not start until July. Prices start from £11,100 for a basic 1-liter car with a stick and go all the way up to £19,715 for a top-spec BlueGT with a 150 PS 1.4 TSI and a DSG gearbox.

As with any Volkswagen sold in Britain, there are lots of trim levels. The base unit is the S model, which can only be had with the 1-liter MPI engine rated at just 60 PS. All new Polos are equipped with Hill Hold and an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System which brakes the vehicle after a collision to reduce kinetic energy significantly. Polo S trim also includes six speakers, a 5-inch touchscreen, DAB radio, USB connectivity, cup holders, gloss black interior trim and a high adjustable seat.

The S doesn't come with air conditioning though. That comes with the S A/C, which starts at £11,820.00 for the three-door model.

The most powerful and well equipped model is the BlueGT, which for 2014 offers 150 PS from a 1.4-liter turbo with cylinder deactivation. Towards the end of the year, a new Polo GTI will be launched, available with a manual for the first time (this generation). Also coming later this year is the first petrol BlueMotion model in Volkswagen’s line-up.
