2014 Volkswagen Beetle with the Premium Package
The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle is already offered in a wide variety of build combinations thanks to its two body styles, four engines and its numerous trim levels and special editions, but VW will be adding yet another option into the mix starting next month with the new Premium Package.
Only offered on the Beetle and Beetle Convertible with either the 1.8T or TDI engine, the Premium Package will be positioned at the top of the 2014 Beetle lineup loaded up with all the bells and whistles. The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle with the Premium Package brings a handful of new features for the Beetle line like the rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, VW’s RNS510 navigation system and an iPhone 5 dock, and the package also includes Bi-Xenon headlights and the Fender audio system.

For a little added exclusivity, the Premium Package will only be offered in three colors (Oryx White, Platinum Gray and Deep Black), and it adds a sportier look with the front and rear fascias borrowed from the Beetle R-Line as well as distinguishing grey door sills and mirror caps. Beetles with the 1.8T will include white 19-inch wheels with this package, while the Beetle TDI will have grey 18-inch wheels.

It's not clear if there will be any styling changes for this package between the U.S. and Europe, but VW points out that the attached images are for the European-spec Premium Package. Rounding out this package, the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle with the Premium Package gets unique touches including seats with leather inserts and contrast stitching throughout the cabin.

As expected, the new range-topping comes with a high price. On models equipped with the 1.8T engine, the Premium Package will start at $27,355 for the Beetle Coupe and $30,755 for the Beetle Convertible, while the TDI models will start at $29,355 for the hardtop and $32,755 for the drop top. These prices are considerable increases over the current top Sun, Sound and Nav package, but the Premium Package bundles in either new or unique features to offset the higher prices, which do not include the $820 destination charge.
