The refreshed 2014 Toyota Highlander sport utility vehicle will reach dealerships later this month, while its fuel-efficient Hybrid version will be available around mid-February next year.
The SUV’s body has been stretched by about three inches and widened by one and a half. Its front fascia got restyled, coming with a redesigned trapezoidal grille, wraparound headlights and deeply chiseled fenders, all contributing to a more aggressive appearance. The new Highlander also comes with a redesigned height-adjustable rear lift-gate. Visibility has been increased by precisely repositioning the A pillar and increasing the rear quarter glass’ size, while more refinement is achieved through a 30 percent expansion of silencing insulation coverage in the floor areas.

Inside, the new Highlander uses premium materials to offer an upscale experience, with most grades coming with standard contrast seat stitching, soft-touch instrument panel as well as silver-painted, satin and chrome-plated trimmings around the cabin. Customers can also choose between four well-equipped grades – LE, LE Plus, XLE and Limited.

The standard LE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, Entune audio system with 6.1-inch touchscreen and multiple connectivity, backup camera, seating for eight, heated mirrors, windshield wiper de-icer and more.

For the LE Plus grade, you get standard fog lights, height-adjustable power liftgate, eight-way powered driver seat, Entune Audio Plus, three-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter.

The more upscale XLE version adds smart key with push start button, leather trimmed seats, Chromtec roof rails, tilt-slide moonroof, Entune Premium Audio with Navigation with 8-inch touchscreen, anti-theft system, Homelink and more.

Top grade Limited trim comes with added 19-inch Chromtec alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, perforated leather seats with heat and ventilation for the first row and Entune Premium JBL Audio with Navigation and App Suite.

Power comes from the same 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission. The LE is also available with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine while the Limited can be had with a hybrid powertrain.
