The new Toyota Corolla is all about youth, coming with a sharp new design that takes it out of the anonymity as well as a more upscale, sporty interior.
However, under these fresh changes lies the same structure, the compact sedan being powered by the same 1.8-liter VVTi gasoline engine. The difference is that it is now mated to a more efficient CVT.
The TFL Car guys thought to test the new CVT on the Ike Gauntlet, a road that climbs from Dillion, Coloradot to the Eisenhower Tunnel to a maximum elevation of 11,158 feet (3,401 meters).
The guys were surprisingly satisfied with the new Corolla, naming it a “baby Camry” due to its interior quality and overall feel on the road. The electric steering felt quite good and the suspension managed to damp most of the road deformities while the engine’s power got handled pretty nice by the new CVT.
