Set to be unveiled before the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, but with no precise date announced yet, the 2014 Toyota Corolla will reportedly show up with an important overhaul.
According to an order guide posted on a dealer's website, the next-gen compact car will still be powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, but the new unit will come with the company’s continuously variable valve timing and lift system (Valvematic). The current engine features VVT-i, which has only variable valve timing.
Moving on, the Japanese automaker won’t ditch the four-speed automatic for the base model, but will offer a new six-speed manual gearbox on the options list. In addition, customers will be able to pick a CVT on higher trim levels.
Speaking of trim levels, it looks like the 2014 Toyota Corolla will be sold in four versions: base, LE, S, and Eco. Other new options that can be selected for the compact include Softex leather, push-button start, and navigation.
