The 2014 SRT Viper TA is now recognized as the ultimate American sportscar after beating the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1's lap record at the Laguna Seca Raceway.
The TA version, which stands for "Time Attack", adds several racing upgrades to the standard SRT Viper, such as Bilstein Damptronic dampers, new anti-roll bars or carbon components, and aerodynamic enhancements, including a carbon fiber rear spoiler and a two-piece front splitter.
This means that while the Crusher Orange-painted Viper is powered by the same 8.4-liter V10 engine, the TA is actually significantly faster thank to its reduced weight. Only 33 Viper TAs will be built, with deliveries to commence in third quarter 2013.
In the following video, SRT representatives explain why the 2014 Viper TA is so special among other Detroit-built snakes. One thing's certain, Chevrolet is going to have to put a great deal of effort to recapture the Laguna Seca record with the Corvette.
