Toyota sold 7.2 percent less vehicles this January, both on a daily selling and raw volume basis compared to the same month of 2013.

The automaker sold around 14,000 vehicles to fleet buyers last month, compared to the 24,000 of January 2013, translating into hybrid and non-hybrid Camry models falloffs of 48.3% and 23.9%.

The Prius liftback and v wagon lost 26.8 percent of their year-ago sales while the Corolla went down by 3.5%.

In truck segment however, the Toyota Tundra had its best January in six years, going up by 12.7 percent, while the RAV4 did the same with 16,880 units sold. Oh, and the Super Bowl intense advertising boosted the Highlander sales by 25.7 percent.
