Shelby American has taken the wraps off the their brand new musclecar for the 2014 model year - the Shelby GT. The new high performance vehicle is available as a post-title package and marks the rebirth of the original Shelby GT that was created in 2007 by Ford, Carroll Shelby and Ford Racing.
Based on the 2014 Mustang GT, the 2014 Shelby GT will become available as an entry-level model equipped a Ford Racing Suspension, Shelby branded exhaust and intake, new wheels and tires, short shifter, Le Mans stripes and an engine tuned to deliver 430 horsepower. The range-topping GT/SC version will churn 624 HP, which will return a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.7 seconds and a quarter mile time in the mid-11 second range.
Shelby says the 2014 GT is can be personalized with an array of options, including performance suspension, better braking, supercharger upgrades and a lot styling parts from Shelby Performance.
The base Shelby GT package, not including the factory 2014 Mustang GT, will start at $14,995, which means that a “nicely equipped” Mustang will cost about $45,000. The 2014 Shelby GT/SC package will begin at $27,995 + the 2014 Mustang GT.
