2014 Scion FR-S Convertible Coming

The Japanese automotive media has already tested the Toyobaru pair against the Mazda MX-5 Miata. And why wouldn’t they, as the the cars are all about being honest. However, there is one thing that keeps the new arrivals to the sports coupe gave from being as honest as the Mazda, and that is the fact that they are coupes.

In America, that’s all going to change with the arrival of the 2014 Scion FR-S Convertible, which is already being developed according to Car and Driver.

The car was developed from the get-go to become a convertible, and will likely keep most of its proportions intact, with the exception of the roof of course.

The powertrain will consists of the same 200 horsepower 2.0-liter boxer engine as the coupe. Subaru has stated there will never be a turbo version, as the hot version will arrive with tweaks to the exhaust system and breathing only.

The convertible will be more expensive than the coupe, but the lack of a roof also translates to more fun behind the wheel.
