Last week we brought you news of Chrysler announcing it will recall nearly 10,000 of its brand new 2014 Ram ProMaster full-size vans over stuck accelerator pedal fears.
The manufacturer didn’t say when the recall will commence, but an official recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration revealed that the vans that were already delivered to their customers (half are still in dealer hands) will be brought in for a replacement pedal stopper starting March.
“In the affected vehicles, if the accelerator pedal is pushed downward at a certain angle, the pedal may get stuck in the wide open throttle position due to interference with the accelerator pedal stopper [...] In the event a pedal is trapped, pushing on the brake pedal will brake the vehicle and enable the driver to slow and stop and turn off the vehicle.” the NHTSA said in a statement.
Concerned customers may contact Chrysler at 1-800-854-1403 (recall number P02) and the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
