The Ram Power Wagon is back! The latest version of America's first mass-produced civilian 4x4 truck will be officially unveiled at next week's New York International Auto Show. Introduced over sixty years ago, the Power Wagon legend continues with the 2014MY, dubbed by Ram as being "the most off-road-capable pickup" out there.
Based on the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4x4 Crew Cab, the 2014MY Power Wagon comes in standard with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that turns out 410 horsepower and 429 ft-lb (581 Nm) of torque, "Ram Articulink" front suspension with high movement joints and sway-bar disconnecting system for additional flexibility and axle articulation, 5-link coil rear suspension, front and rear electronic-locking differentials for maximum traction, an electric winch mounted behind the front bumper and a towing capacity up to 10,810 pounds (4,903 kilograms).

“The 2014 Ram Power Wagon fills a need for those who travel into extreme terrain for rescue or recreation, while delivering on-road civility and the towing capability expected from a heavy-duty truck” said Reid Bigland, President and CE of Ram Trucks. Director of engineering Mike Cairns declared: “It may look similar to a Ram 2500 Heavy Duty but under the skin is a unique story, giving the Power Wagon its best-in-class off-road pickup competence.”

As for exterior design features, the Ram pickup truck comes with special body and grille paint colors, along with tri-color camouflage decals. Ram's latest Power Wagon comes in three trim levels, each bookended with chrome front and rear bumpers. The Tradesman trim gets 17-inch forged and polished aluminum alloys, black grille-surround and inserts, black headlamp filler panels and wheel flares, along with a camo decal on the tailgate.

The SLT trim features a crosshair grille design, red billets in the four quadrants of the frontal area, halogen projector headlamps, tri-color Carbide Blade graphics and a few other things. Last but not least, the understated Laramie trim includes an all chrome grille and headlamps set into a chrome background, coupled with a cabin full of soft touch materials and premium leather.

If you're one of those skeptics that doesn't believe a pickup truck can properly tackle medium to hard off-road conditions, then we urge you to play the video attached below and be amazed.
