Pickup truck manufacturer and Chrysler subsidiary Ram has unveiled the 2014 1500 model lineup. The new vehicle destined to rival Ford’s F-150 and GM’s Silverado/Sierra twins will hit the market later this year starting from $24,200 plus $1,095 destination fee.
The 2014 Ram 1500 will become available with a choice of three engines, including the all-new 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel (240 HP / 420 lb-ft), a first in the US truck industry. The base model will carry the familiar Pentastar V6 mill (305 HP / 269 lb-ft), while the range-topping Ram will be powered by the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 (395 HP / 410 lb-ft), while the 4.7-liter V8 was dropped. All engines are coupled with the company’s eight-speed automatic.
Other new features added on the 2014 Ram 1500 include Front Park Assist and two new exterior colors - Blue Streak and Granite Crystal. In addition, Ram has announced that the heavy duty 3500 model has received a new 6.4-liter Hemi engine which delivers 410 HP and 429 lb-ft of torque to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission.
