German sportscar manufacturer Porsche has unwrapped the Turbo Cabriolet and Turbo S Cabriolet versions of the 2014 Porsche 911 ahead of their public debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 20.
Based on the new 911 Turbo Coupe, the Cabriolet models were fitted with a retractable fabric roof built around a lightweight magnesium frame that “enables the Coupe-like arch to the roof to be preserved when the top is closed.” Porsche adds that the roof opens and closes in around 13 seconds at speeds of up to 30 mph (48 km/h).
As expected, the 2014 Turbo Cabriolet is powered by a 3.8-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 520 HP (383 kW), while the more powerful Turbo S comes with 560 HP (412 kW) under the rear bonnet. The amount of power enables them to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.3 and 3.1 seconds respectively, while top speed is rated at 195 mph (314 km/h).
The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Turbo S Cabriolet will have a starting price of $160,700 and $193,900 (not including the $950 destination fee) and will reach US dealerships early next year.
