The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is most likely going to do down in history as the most impressive track tool you can possibly buy for $130,000.
The high performance machine takes advantage of the new type 991 architecture already used by a range of new 911. That's not the impressive part. Somehow, the German engineers have managed to squeeze out no less than 475 hp (349 kW) and 438 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque from their usual 3.8-liter flat-six engine, as much as you used to get with a Turbo just a few years ago.
That power is channeled to the rear wheels exclusively through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a locking differential, making the 911 GT3 to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds from a standing start, before reaching a 315 km/h (195 mph) top speed.
Other technical goodies include complicated launch control and traction control electronics and the first use of rear-wheel steering in a road-going Porsche. It's hard not to be impressive with the performance of this car. The video shot at the Nurburgring by Bridge to Gantry makes the 911 GT3 look almost like a race car going down the track.
