A rugged machine for tough outdoor jobs and recreational riding alike, the Polaris Sportsman 550 EPS arrives in 2014 trim, retaining all the amazing terrainability and proudly displaying the same dependability as ever.
There are lots of nice features about the 2014 Polaris Sportsman 550 EPS, but the electronic power steering is probably one of the nicest of them all. Polaris claims that the updated power steering now offers up to 30% easier directional control and this is good news for less powerful users and for those who get to ride the ATV for a whole day on unwelcoming terrain.
As for the rest, the changes seem rather minor, with the 2014 Sportsman 550 EPS rolling with independent suspensions and 11.5" (29 cm) of ground clearance for enhanced passability over obstacles, disc brakes for both axles, engine braking and active descent control, light 8-spoke cast aluminium wheels and automatic transmission with parking brake.
The 549cc 4-stroke liquid-cooled single is mated to the usual dual-ratio automatic transmission with on-demand AWD switching for extra grip when in need. The Lock & Ride racks can accommodate up to 360 lbs (165 kg) and with hitch towing capacity rated at 1500 lbs (680 kg), even the toughest outdoor chores seem now a bit easier.
For 2014, the Polaris Sportsman 550 EPS is available in Sunset Red, Magnetic Metallic and Pursuit Camo for $8,699 (€6,515). The Browning Limited Edition comes with additional gun scabbard and a rear rack extension and retains for $9,499 (€7,115).
