Nissan has taken the wraps off the 2014 e-NV200 commercial vehicle ahead of its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. Based on the e-NV200 concept that was unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the production version of the electric van will become available next year.
The Japanese automaker says production of the e-NV200 will commence in mid-2014 at the company’s plant in Barcelona, Spain. Scheduled to arrive in Japan in the second half of 2014, the e-NV200 “will eventually be sold worldwide”.
Nissan has yet to release photos with the car’s interior, but says it will feature “power supply functions in the luggage area for outdoor activities or emergency power” and “an advanced telematics system.”
Powertrain figures are unknown at the moment, but the concept vehicle was fitted with an electric motor rated at 109 HP and 206 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque. Stay tuned for more details as the Tokyo Motor Show will begin in less than a week.
