The king is dead, long like the king, they say. The MotoGP riders are back at work, for the first official test which leads the series into the 2014 season. The Ricardo Tormo circuit is the place where several MotoGP riders meet their new bikes for the first time, as the teams have changed a bit. So here are some of the changes...
NGM Mobile Forward Racing confirms Colin Edwards and announces that his team mate will be the 2013 CRT World Champion Aleix Espargaro. Both will be riding FTR chassis bikes loaded with Yamaha M1 leased engines.

Power Electronics Aspar, which had announced they'll be teaming up with Nicky Hayden confirmed Hiroshi Aoyama as their second pilot. Both Aoyama and Hayden will be aboard Honda RCV1000R production racer machines.

Avintia Racing inked an extended contract with Hector Barbera and he will be carrying on the development of Avintia and Kawasaki's common project. Cal Crutchlow is also getting used to his new factory Ducati and is taking things easily for now.

After Ben Spies announced he would hang up his leathers and Pramac Ducati had Yonny Hernandez leaving PBM to replace him, it was only natural that the Colombian became a full-time rider for the Borgo Panigale satellite team.

PBM now rides with Michael Laverty and Randy de Puniet, but as the French is deeply involved with Suzuki, we might expect that he would be riding a Hamamatsu factory bike in 2015.

GO&FUN Honda Gresini has Scott Redding aboard a new Honda production racer and looking at the practice time sheets, the rookie is taking things in a very cautious way, while Pol Espagaro (Aleix brother) is Tech3's rookie for the year and sits in top 10.

We'll be back with a more detailed report after the Valencia test.
