Things did not go well for Movistar Yamaha, as both riders performed well under their usual. First of all, Jorge Lorenzo made the unlikely mistake of jumping the start.

After the race he admitted he was a bit distracted by the thought of making that holeshot in Turn 1. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, they say, and Lorenzo had to make a pass through penalty at the end of lap 1, dropping to the back of the pack. Still he worked his way up and managed to secure his first points this year, finishing in the 10th place.

His team mate Valentino Rossi had a major problem with the tires, as the right side of his front tire lost grip much sooner than expected. After having battled into the 4th position and preparing an assault on Iannone, Rossi was forced to ride very carefully to avoid a crash, and lowly dropped to the 8th position.

The rest of the field fared very well, with Dani Pedrosa in the second place, followed by Andrea Dovizioso, for his first podium with Ducati. Cal Crutchlow apparently crashed because of the tire behavior, too, and injured his right hand. We’ll bring you updates on him, soon.

Bradl, Smith and Pol Espargaro lined up after the podium positions, followed by Iannone, who led the Doctor. Aleix Espargaro was 9th, ahead of Lorenzo. Scott Redding, Colin Edwards, Crutchlow, Bautista and Broc Parked did not finish the race.

The world standing currently sees Marquez in the lead with 50 points, followed by Pedrosa with 36 and Rossi with 28. Top five is complete with Andrea Dovizioso with 27 points and Aleix Espargaro with 20. Next, the MotoGP returns to Argentina after a big absence. The round at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit is scheduled for 25-27 April.
