Just like we feared, Brazil could not raise enough financing to upgrade the Nelson Piquet to the safety and logistics standards needed for a MotoGP homologation by the FIM.
The news has just become official, and the Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet near the capital city of Brasilia will not be a part of the 2014 MotoGP calendar.

With Brazil working hard to host the next Football World Championship, it was rather unlikely that investors would spend money on MotoGP and WSBK projects this year. Unfortunately, football beats MotoGP hands down when it comes to money. Maybe 2015 will be a better year for the two-wheeled sports.

As a result, the 2014 MotoGP calendar was changed once more, returning to a total count of 18 races, as follows:

23 Mar – Qatar* – Doha/Losail
13 Apr – Americas – Austin
27 Apr – Argentina – Termas de Rio Hondo
04 May – Spain – Jerez de la Frontera
18 May – France – Le Mans
01 Jun – Italy – Mugello
15 Jun – Catalunya – Barcelona-Catalunya
28 Jun – Netherlands** – TT Assen
13 Jul – Germany – Sachsenring
10 Aug – Indianapolis GP – Indianapolis
17 Aug – Czech Republic – Brno
31 Aug – Great Britain – Silverstone
14 Sep – San Marino & Riviera di Rimini – Marco Simoncelli Misano
28 Sep – Aragon – MotorLand Aragon
12 Oct – Japan – Motegi
19 Oct – Australia – Phillip Island
26 Oct – Malaysia – Sepang
09 Nov – Valencia – Ricardo Tormo-Valencia
