Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) announces the contract renewal with the actual MotoGP champion Marc Marquez. The contract was extended for two more years, and this means we’ll have Marquez riding Repsol machinery in 2015 and 2016. Even more, it means that Honda is definitely not going to pull out from MotoGP, as official sources repeatedly threatened it will, in case spec software becomes mandatory.
Marquez is doubtlessly the biggest rising star in the premier class, having taken it by storm last year. In his short MotoGP career, Marquez had 10 wins, 6 second places and 4 third ones, having only finished twice off the podium. Currently leading the 2014 championship with 100 points out of just as many possible, he already has a 28-point advantage over his team mate Dani Pedrosa after only 4 rounds.

"I am very happy to announce my renewal with HRC. I had always dreamt about being part of the Repsol Honda Team, and thanks to Honda the dream came true a year and a half ago. Everything happened very quickly last season, and I would have never imagined that I could achieve what we did. Becoming World Champion during my first season was another dream which became reality. It is a great honor to be a part of the Honda family and I’m glad to remain with this special group of people for another two seasons," a truly happy Marquez declared.

Shuhei Nakamoto, Executive VP for HRC is equally glad to have secured a deal with the best rider of the moment: "We are very satisfied to have reached an agreement to keep Marc in the team for a further two seasons. Of course as Honda we wanted to keep Marc in our family and he also wanted to stay with us so it was natural to renew the contract even if it is very early in the season! He is enjoying a fantastic start to 2014 and even though he is still learning, his ability to absorb information and adapt to the machine is remarkable."

Team Repsol Honda will be in France this week, for the 5th round of the season, at the legendary circuit in Le Mans, the place where Marc Marquez could break new records.
