It looks like the two Repsol Honda Riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa spent yesterday’s Free Practice 1 session learning the new Argentinian venue in Santiago del Estero, the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo. FP2 saw Marquez in the lead, followed by Pedrosa.
The defending champion posted a 1m39s313 lap, a noticeable faster one than Lorenzo’s 1m42.804 in FP1, earlier in the day. While both Honda riders improved their lap times significantly, the same cannot be said about the Movistar Yamaha riders. Free Practice 2 saw Valentino Rossi in the 8th position and Jorge Lorenzo in the 9th.

As mentioned before, Pedrosa was second, a hefty 1s083 adrift from Marquez, while Aleix Espargaro dropped one position from FP1 and ended the session third, 1s253 slower than the leader. The top 5 was complete with Stefan Bradl for LCR Honda, and Andrea Dovizioso for Ducati. The latter also blew an engine and had to swap bikes.

Positions 6 and 7 in Free Practice 2 at Termas de Rio Hondo went to the Yamaha Tech3 duo, Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro, intriguingly followed by the factory Yamaha riders and with Andrea Iannone completing the top 10. Iannone also had a nasty high-side crash in Turn 5 (pictured after the jump), but walked away from it unharmed.

It looks like we might get to see more such action in this turn, as it is a very sharp one at the end of the back straight.
