The fact than the Jerez circuit is Dani Pedrosa’s favorite track in the entire MotoGP calendar is old news, and it looks like he really enjoys riding here. Pedrosa got ahead of his rivals in Free Practice 3 and secured the top spot with a 1m38s769 lap.
He was followed very closely by Jorge Lorenzo, .149 slower than the Repsol Honda Driver, while the reigning champion Marc Marquez was third, .238 adrift. Top 5 was complete with Valentino Rossi, 4th in FP for the third time this weekend, and a surprisingly fast Colin Edwards, using the extra soft tire on his Forward Yamaha. This is the last time Edwards races at Jerez, as he announced his retirement at the end of the season.

Edwards’ team mate Aleix Espargaro was 7th in FP3, .029 slower than Stefan Bradl, but still ahead of Andrea Divizioso, Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith. A great placement for Ducati’s test rider Michele Pirro, who will enter Q2 alongside the 12th fastest rider, Andrea Iannone. Crutchlow was 16th, ahead of Nicky Hayden.

As we expected, the championship is becoming more and more spectacular with each round. However, Marc Marquez is gaining momentum and experience as the season is underway, and it will be interesting to see him fighting back to keep the crown, as Lorenzo and Pedrosa are surely planning to gun him as hard as possible.
