The brand new MINI Cooper will be making an appearance at the first major show of 2014, in Detroit. The car that was launched with a really big bang is supposed to revolutionize the mini segment, once again. Whether it will be successful or not, it mostly depends on BMW’s new UKL platform.
The trick with this new platform is that it’s going to be used in a lot of new models, both from MINI and BMW. The X1, for example, will migrate to a FWD layout and the brand new 2 Series Active Tourer will also join it in becoming the first ever Bimmers that send the power exclusively to the front axle.
Today, we got hold of some new rolling shots of the new MINI Cooper S, that seem to have been taken somewhere in the wilderness of Europe (I'm guessing France). The car is using a 2-liter B48 engine that makes 192 HP and 280 Nm (300 with overboost) mated to a brand new gearbox.
