It seems like the automakers can’t trust anyone these days. The 2014 MINI Cooper S was leaked online just hours before its official launch at 3 worldwide events.
The new model was presented in all its glory thanks to just 3 photos, one of the interior and two exterior shots. That was all it took and the secrecy MINI tried to keep around its new model was gone.
According to them, the 3rd generation model has grown in size and now has LED DRL, as you can see in the photos. Furthermore, the interior was redesigned and now the speedometer is located behind the steering wheel, the big roundel in the center of the dash being kept though, now housing the infotainment screen and some new buttons.
The engines have already been unveiled and are part of a completely new engine family, called B38. Two are 3-cylinder 1.5-liter units whilst one is a 2-liter.
Power outputs go from 116 HP for the diesel 3-cylinder to 192 HP for the 4-cylinder turbo 2-liter unit fitted on the Cooper S version. The new models are expected to start deliveries next spring.
