2014 MINI Cooper S 'Accidentally' Unveiled

Just like it happened with the BMW F32 4 Series Coupe, in a strange coincidence, the upcoming Mk3 MINI Cooper S was also caught off-guard, months before its official release.

This time though, more than one model was caught on film, as company officials were using them to film spot (most likely). The shots surprised a yellow model, a red one and a dark grey version.

No matter the exterior color, we can now see exactly what was hiding under that pesky camouflage that was covering the prototypes in the spyshots we showed you before.

The most important new feature on the UKL MINI will be the DRL system made up of carefully stacked LEDs that is really noticeable, even in powerful sunlight. The size of the car suggests a slight increase in size too, whilst we're hoping the weight will be reduced too.

The biggest difference in size is the bonnet which is now considerably longer than before, probably to fit the new engine, that is rumored to be the new 1.5-liter 3-cylinder one derived from BMW's 3-liter 6-cylinder N55.

The 1.5-liter unit will supposedly be capable of up to 200 HP per liter that meaning it will deliver up to 300 HP thanks to BMW's TwinTurbo technology. Just imagine a Cooper JCW with 300 HP under the bonnet!

According to a well-connected source from Autoguide, at least one 4-cylinder engine will be carried over from the current generation model but it might be used just for the first model year versions.

Now that you see it, what do you think about it? Will it still light your fire? Is it better or worse than the previous model? Share your thoughts.
