The 2014 MINI Cooper is ready to win your heart over, as soon as it makes it to the US. However, not everyone will find it as big of an improvement as others and some might even complain that it went in a completely wrong direction. Either way, the new MINI is different.
Now we could stand around and talk about the advantages and disadvantages of the new platform/model but that would help anyone. The guys from Car and Driver, for example, got straight to the point.

And what is that point, exactly? Well, the new Cooper evolved. The suspension has been reworked, the interior upgraded (beyond they neon lights inside) and the engines changed, not necessarily to the best, if you’re to believe the C&D review.

However, other people’s views on the matter said different. Most acclaimed the increase in torque and the decrease in fuel consumption but you can’t please everyone, now can you?

The S model is brisk and full of life and, while fitted with the manual gearbox, it will be a blast to drive. The standard, ‘non-S’ version will not and will require more work from the driver to make the most of the brilliant chassis.

In the end, the price increase (of just $250) is worth it and the new MINI comes with a playful, plentiful offering for everyone. Check out the full test at Car and Driver.
