The Mercedes S-Class will be reborn next year, a more sculptural machine, a family of vehicles that will also replace the CL and defunct Maybach brand. The car will be a tour of force for the German automaker, and today, they’ve detailed some of the technology that will keep you safe and comfortable at the same time.
The S-Class will arrive next featuring as many as four cameras situated around the car, working together with other sensors. Safety features on the 2014 S-Class will include Active Seat-belt Buckle, Active Parking Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Beltbag and Night View Assist Plus.
Distronic Plus with Steering Assist will make the S-Class driver seem like a more civilized one, helping him keep his lane and even follow the vehicle in front of him through slow traffic automatically.
"The intelligent assistance systems of the future will be able to analyse complex situations and recognise potential dangers out on the road with the aid of improved environment sensor systems even more accurately than today," explains Mercedes-Benz board member Thomas Weber. "Figuratively speaking, the next S-Class won't just have eyes at the front; it will have 360-degree all-round vision."
