We are very close to the 2014 Mercedes S-Class' launch, an event scheduled for May 15. This means that it's a perfect time to bring you some new photos and information about the flagship Mercedes saloon.
A fresh series of images that show the 2014 S-Class' interior have leaked online thanks to a French forum. Mercedes had already published a set of official images, but those were edited, so we could only see certain details.
The new 2014 Mercedes S-Class photos show Dr. Dieter Zetsche, chairman of Daimler AG, testing the comfort of the vehicle via its reclining individual rear seats. Judging by the images, this seems to be the long wheelbase version of the S-Class.
Now that we can see the entire cabin, it's easy for everyone to notice how the shapes flow into each other, creating an impression of protection. Alas, the dashboard still seems a bit artificial to our eyes, just like it did during our brief contact with the car.
The aforementioned source also has some information about the new S-Class, which, of course, may or may not be entirely true. First of all, it seems that Mercedes will start taking orders for the W222 S-Class starting from July 20.
The published information shows that initial customers will be able to choose between a 260 hp S350 Bluetec, a 330 hp S400 Hybrid and a 440 hp S500.
Subsequently, the S500 will also receive a 460 hp incarnation, as well as a plug-in hybrid S500 version delivering 360 hp. As for the S250 CDI four-cylinder diesel, there is no official confirmation for the vehicle at the present time.
When it comes to go-fast models, the S63 AMG will be powered by a 575 hp 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, while power will climb past 590 hp for the S63 AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive model. At the top of the range, we shall find the 650 hp S65 AMG.
The last rumor to be offered by the forum is that 2016 will bring us a four-door incarnation of the S-Class.
