The facelifted E-Class sedan and wagon have recently been revealed ahead of their debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2013. Major changes include revised front and rear bumpers, a new grille and single-piece headlights with a much more stylish and flowing shape.
But, that’s not the end of the story for the W212’s update. We’ve yet to see what the changes look like on the C207 coupe and A207 convertible, for example, but maybe the biggest yet-to-be-revealed is the 2014 E63 AMG.
According to Car&Driver, the new version of the AMG model will have more power, about 550 hp to be more precise. This is an unsurprising move that’s likely been made to keep the model on par with the M5.
But that’s by no means the biggest change. The 2013 E63 will have 4MATIC all-wheel drive installed. This will be standard on cars sold in America and optional everywhere else. Yes, scratched our eyes too when we read that!
This system will be much different to the one offered in the standard E-Class and will have a 67/33 power split, compared to the 55/45 system fitted to lesser models. According to AMG’s CEO Ola Kallenius, it’s even quicker on track than the previous RWD configuration, even though it adds 59kg (130 lbs).
