2014 Mercedes E63 AMG (W212 Facelift) Rendering

The E-Class is as quintessentially Mercedes as the badge itself. However, that angular looking front and those little square headlights made the W212 generation look like a Chinese clone... of itself.
This time though, Mercedes have designed the E-Class like the meant it. A restyled E-Class will make its way to the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit later this month. However, we only have official photos of the sedan and wagon in their regular configurations.

Seen here is a rendering of the E63 AMG as it will most likely look for the next model year. This is just a rendering created by Khalil Bouguerra of Virtuel-Car. We’ve seen camouflaged prototypes in various shapes over the past year, but never one that’s this clearly displayed.

However, the E63 AMG is just as much about what’s under the skin as about the looks. The hot sedan and its other relatives will still be powered by the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 known as the M157. However, the engine will have about the same power as the new BMW M5 and will be paired to a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system (standard in US, optional everywhere else) with a strong bias towards the rear.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
