The same power upgrade will be carried over from the E63 AMG, meaning the base CLS 63 will now have the 557 PS (550 HP) version of the 5.5-liter Biturbo M157 engine. This added power is achieved by giving the turbos the same boost level that was reserved for the AMG Power Pack, an optional extra for the CLS until now.

This means the CLS 63 AMG four-door will get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds. Mercedes has also added 4MATIC all-wheel drive as an option to the AMG version of the CLS, and with this aiding it, the car can do the same sprint in just 3.7 seconds (sedan, or 3.8 for Shooting Brake).

But the fastest model by far is the new CLS 63 AMG 4MATIC S-Model, which offers even more power: 585 PS and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) between 1,750 and 5,000 rpm. It enables the coupe to hit 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, while the Shooting Brake takes 3.7 seconds.
