2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Gets Reviewed by Truck Trend

The MY 2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a little bit like the MY 2013 and a little bit not, mainly because it features a rather extensive mid-cycle facelift.

The Stuttgart maker's only large van offering in the United States was met with some pretty good reviews over the almost 13 years years it's been available in the land of the free (first under the Freightliner badge), and most remarks have been about its above average fuel economy and refinement compared to what Americans were used to in this segment.

It always had the best quality interior and some of the most technologically-advanced engines among its American peers, with loads of torque and a very good fuel efficiency, despite their lack of power compared to the big gasoline V8s and V10s sported by its US rivals.

The MY 2014 Sprinter facelift brings a new front end in terms of styling, with the model aligning itself to the new Mercedes-Benz design idiom, while the three-liter turbodiesel V6 also gets a little brother in the form of a 2.1-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder.

Despite the loss of two cylinders and 0.9-liters of displacement, the four-cylinder mill seems to be the little engine that could, at least to the numbers got by the peeps at Truck Trend, who recently tested two versions of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.
