We’ve spent quite a lot of time in the back of our 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 test car and we’re not quite ready to behind the wheel yet. You really couldn’t blame us - the feeling of intimacy mixed with the space of an office building turns this into a truly desirable area.
In fact, we started our test drive up front and it’s not a particularly inspiring place to be. Those amorphous all-digital dials remind us on the late 80s computer games and not in a good way. Fortunately, the display used for them is mirrored by a second one that’s used for infotainment and this works brilliant. Throw in some Burmester, plenty of animated menus and you’ll understand what this car is all about.
The 2014 Mercedes S-Class is now closer to its driver than ever. Then again, this doesn’t say much, since the S-Class has always made you feel like a chauffeur. It still does.
The 2014 Mercedes S-Class prides itself with some autonomous driving bit, as well as with a Magic Body Control suspension. But we’ll talk about the real world translation of these technologies in our 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 test drive.
