The W222 generation of the flagship sedan in the Mercedes-Benz range has finally been priced for the United States.
For the time being, only three S-Class models will be available for the American audience, with the cheapest one being the S 550, launching in October.
Powered by a 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 455 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque, the S 550 will start from $92,900, excluding the MY 2014 $925 destination/delivery charge.
The 4Matic version of the aforementioned model will start at $95,900 with a launch programed for November 2013.
The S 63 AMG sledgehammer, available in 4Matic guise only for the US market will also get a November 2013 launch, with a starting price of $139,500. Powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 585 hp (577 Imperial horsepower) and an Earth-moving torque of 900 Nm (664 lb ft), the AMG model can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in four seconds flat, so the 0-60 time will obviously be even lower than that.
