Supercar producers always talk about how their beasts manage to offer coupe-like rigidity, bragging about handling and other such goodies. We’re here with an open-top automobile today, but the aim is a bit different. We’re talking about the 2014 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet and the word here is “comfort”.
To be more specific, we’re seeking open-air motoring and it seems like the facelifted E-Class has plenty of that to offer. Like other cabriolets, it has a wind deflector at the back. As other Mercs, it comes with an Airscarf feature that blows warm air around your neck. However, the trick here is called Aircap.
This is some sort of windshield top-mounted wind deflector and it’s doing a brilliant job. Basically, as long as you stick to the speed limits, the wind will be repelled like a musqeto.
Of course, there’s much more to the car than just its roof system. After all, Mercedes spent EUR1 billion facelifting the E-Class family. We’ll get to the details in our 2014 Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet test drive.
