Word has it the McLaren MP4-12C will receive a number of upgrades for the 2014 model year, including more horsepower under the bonnet.
According to Jalopnik, the new amount of power is “undetermined at this time”, but it should revolve around the 650 HP mark, about 34 HP more than the current version. The power bump will come as the MP4-12C’s engine will get a number of upgrades from the unit fitted in the brand-new McLaren P1.
As a reminder, the McLaren P1 is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine and an electric motor combo which delivers 903 HP. The V8 powerplant alone develops 727 horses.
In other related news, the British manufacturer is considering offering a full bare carbon fiber option for the P1 in order to meet multiple customer requests. The new McLaren already comes with a partial carbon fiber choice at no cost.
