2014 Lotus Elite Goes Topless

The world is still amazed by the bouquet of six concepts introduced by Lotus at the Paris Auto Show.

The British company is working to change its core brand values, preparing a future range that includes an ultra-compact city car and no less than five performance vehicles.

One of the future go-fast Lotus cars is the Elite, which is scheduled to hit the market in 2014. The British automotive produced is now offering us a video of the vehicle. The footage shows the vehicle’s hard top folding behind the rear seats and offers us a view of the 2+2 interior.

The metal roof has an intelligent folding system that keeps the vehicle’s coupe-cabriolet identity secret.

We’ll remind you that the car we are talking about is a Grand Tourer that uses a front mid-mounted powerplant and rear-wheel drive. Speaking of the engine, this is a mighty 5.0 liter V8 that allows the driver to play with 620 hp and a maximum torque of 720 Nm. Customers can also choose an optional hybrid gearbox that uses integrated electric motors and a Kinetic Energy Recuperation System (KERS). The feature allows the V8 beast to be gentle with the environment. To be more precise the hybrid incarnation of the Grand Tourer only emits 215 grams of CO2 per km.

The vehicle tips the scales at 1,650 kg (3,630 lbs), taking 3.7 seconds to deal with the 0 to 62 mph sprint and offering a top speed of 195 mph (315 km/h). The car will have a price of around 115,000 pounds (EUR133,700 or $182,500).

You can see the 2014 Lotus Elite remove its top in the video below.
