Lotus’ brand new track-only sportscar, the 2014 Elise S Cup R, will be introduced at the Autosport International show in Birmingham later this month. The 924 kg racer will be displayed alongside the Exige V6 Cup, the Exige V6 Cup R and the Evora GT4 at the event that’s scheduled to begin on January 9.
Developed for the 2014 Lotus Cup series, the Elise S Cup R is powered by a supercharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine connected to a six-speed manual and features an aerodynamic body kit with new and revised front splitter, barge boards, winglets, rear diffuser and rear wing.

Lotus says the Elise S Cup R is four seconds faster than the standard Elise S on a 2.2 mile lap thanks to its new aero pack and adjustable dampers and springs. As we’ve previously reported, pricing for the new track-only car will start from £39,125 + VAT.

“Developing the Elise S Cup R was a natural step following the success of the Exige V6 Cup R; with so many new markets becoming interested in motorsport, the Elise S Cup R gives us the perfect entry level track-car. Whether the focus is racing or simply developing your driving skills on a race circuit and having fun, the incredible handling and ease of use with low running costs make the Elise S Cup R an intelligent choice,” said Rupert Manwaring, head of Lotus Motorsport.
