Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus released its first photos of the new IS sedan last week, after they were leaked onto the web. In preparation for its debut at the Detroit Auto Show, they have now fully detailed the car, revealing all specs and, most importantly, the engine options that will be available.
Lexus IS 2014 sedan will be delivered with the promise of an engaging drive and better quality. At its global debut this summer, the four-door will have two gasoline engines under its Japanese tool belt, a 3.5-liter V6 and a new four-cylinder hybrid.

The base model will be the IS 250, powered by a 204 hp 2.5-liter V6 engine. The biggest and most powerful motor, however, will be the 3.5-liter V6 in the IS 350, which will offer the same output as in the new GS. The IS 300h will use a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine linked to an electric motor. This will might or might not be offered in the US, though on money is on yes.

If more sporting character is what the buyer wants, then the 2014 IS can be fitted with the F Sport package, which adds a new body design, revised suspension and larger 18-inch wheels.

"We adopted an entirely different approach to the development of the new IS. Rather than develop each individual aspect in the hope they will combine to offer an engaging driving experience, we first established the kind of driving experience owners desire. With this as our initial premise, we then developed the individual performance elements to support it. Every aspect of the new IS has been engineered with a focus on sporting performance, agile handling, accurate response to driver input and highly communicative feedback," says the car's Chief Engineer Junichi Furuyama.
