The Lexus GX received a facelift this year, now wearing the signature spindle design grille, redesigned headlamps, foglamps, rear bumper, taillights, new rims and more convenience and tech inside.
Autoblog recently tested the 2014 Lexus GX 460 which starts at $49,085. Fit it with optionals and you can reach $$63,658, as the one tested by the editor. The GX comes with a 4.6-liter V8 making 301 hp and 329 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, which enables it to reach 60 mph from a stand still in 7.8 seconds.

The reviewer spent a very short time off-roading in the new GX, but on the asphalt, the SUV “delivered a smooth Lexus-spec ride” while the luxury interior made it feel like a perfect car for long-distance traveling. The new interior include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated/cooled front seats, powerful sound system and more.

On the down side, the Autoblog was not amazed by the GX’s fuel economy, saying that “drive it like a Prius and you might hit the EPA fuel economy estimates of 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.”
