If you care more about luxury, comfort and style instead of speed and neck-breaking acceleration, Lexus just introduced a new powertrain to its GS model - the 300h version.
Adding up to the lineup, the 2014 Lexus GS 300h is powered by the same hybrid unit found in the new Lexus IS, consisting of a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine aided by an electric motor, making a total of 217 hp. This means that the sedan can now make less noise, emit less CO2 and achieve 54.6 mpg according to the JC08 Japanese cycle.
Recently tested by Auto Express, they said that the GS 300h will be very attractive for fleet buyers and other customers that are careful with the fuel consumption.
However, don’t imagine that the GS 300h is a slow as a fishing boat. Press that gas pedal and the power will be delivered in a nice smooth, continuous way, with the CVT removing any steps or jerks.
Equipment wise, for £43,745 you get the version coming with electric front seats, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, head-up display, 19-inch alloy wheels and a generous 12.3-inch infotainment display controlled by Lexus’ Remote Touch Interface system.
