Juts like it always happens, the 2014 Dakar machines will be first tested in the Morocco Rally, the last major cross-country event of the year. This rally provides teams and riders with extensive knowledge on how the bike performs in actual racing conditions, allowing them to make the final refinements and adjustments prior to the South American ordeal.

KTM is a constant winner of the Dakar rallies and actually won the last 3 editions in a row, with Marc Coma and Cyril Despres, who now rides for Yamaha.

The Morocco rally will also see Chilean Francisco Lopez joining the three aboard the 2013-spec Dakar machine. Coma is currently leading the world rally ranking, with a frail 3-point advantage over Speedbrain's Paulo Goncalves.

The OiLibya Rally of Morocco, which replaced the Pharaoh’s Rally, will see 74 riders starting, with 1,517 km (943 miles) of special stages and 534 km (332 miles) of liaision, and will run 13 to 19 October 2013.
