2014 Jeep Cherokee Goes Off-Road

We see it as the Jeep that likes to suck lemons, but Chrysler says it's the best mid-size SUV on the market right now. That's quite a tall order considering what the competition is offering, but at least the Jeep Cherokee can handle the rough stuff.

It's not exactly trail-rated, but this video released by the Pentastar shows how the all-new 2014 Cherokee does off-road. A number of POV (point of view) cameras mounted on the car provide us with an ample view of what's going to happen once it hits the dirt.

The XK series Cherokee revives the classic emblem that hasn't been offered by Jeep for a number of years. The all-new model will make its debut at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. It features unibody construction and for the first time a transversally mounted engine instead of a longitudinal mounted one.

The Cherokee will be produced at Toledo North and offered with a range of efficient engines. It's been developed on the Compact US Wide platform shared with the Dodge Dart and Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
