Lexus’ 2013 European sales went down a bit compared to those from 2012, the luxury automaker posting total sales of 43,281 units sold, representing a 5.1 percent decrease. However, they could have been much lower if it wasn’t for the revamped IS model.
The 2014 Lexus IS went on sale internationally in mid-2013, coming with a unique bold styling, further enhanced by the F Sport version which also made it sportier. Dominated by a large spindle grille, insect-eye-like headlamps and nice flowing lines, especially those running up from the side skirts into the taillamps, the new Lexus IS took a big step forward and I can say that it even surpassed other luxury automakers in terms of styling.

But only looks alone were not enough to boost its sales - with the introduction of the new model, the automaker also extended its range by making it available with a hybrid powertrain, comprising a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine and an eCVT sending power to the rear wheels. We drove the IS 300h F Sport and we can say that Lexus did an outstanding job with this model.

As a proof to sustain all these arguments, Lexus sold 65 percent more IS models in 2013 compared to the year before, translating into 4,989 more vehicles and a total of 7,562. And among the range, it looks like the IS 300h was the most preferred version, being sold in 5,984 units - 79.1 percent out of total European IS sales.
